Beach Cleaning Kolymbari 18th November

The Kissamos Beach Cleaning Team went to Kolymbari beach this afternoon, meeting east of the AVRA hotel. The recent north winds have swept a lot of rubbish ashore which gets stuck at the back of the beach.
More than 20 people joined, despite the weather which was not promising at all.  The weather gods, however, showed mercy with the beach cleaners!  Even the sun was out for a short while.

Today we also had additional support from Maria Malandraki with students from the Vocational Evening School ELPAL Platanias. Our thanks also go to the Municipality of Platanias providing bags.

Good work, great company and nice get-together afterwards at the Εν Ελλάδι in Kolymbari!

The next beach cleaning is scheduled for the 1st December. Time and beach will be announced in time.

I'm Austrian living in Tavronitis, love nature, music, good books, sunsets, the sea, travelling, socializing and more. I came to Crete as a student in the early 70s, exploring the west and southwest of the island with friends by motorbike. When you are young everything is important and, there are lots of things to do...I did. Job, family,children, travelling the world. But I never lost my love for Crete for a minute. And nine years ago I ended up in this convenient corner of Crete, not only for holidays, but to stay and haven't regretted it for a minute.
