Next hiking activity: Vatolakos – Valsamiotis Dam 7th April

The hiking activities organised by the Municipality Platanias in cooperation with local  organizations continue:
The next hike will take place on SUNDAY, 7th April at 16.30.
Starting/ meeting point at the main square of Vatolakos.
Take the road towards Omalos, follow the signs to Alikianos, pass the center of Alikianos village and continue towards Vatolakos for approximately 2 km. Once at the village square (you will see a clock tower), you can park your car.

On the circular route by the river we will stop at the chapel of St. Mary Stylianou and we will arrive then at the Valsamiotis Dam.
Before the start there will be a guided tour to the wonderful olive museum.
As always, the section of the Red Cross of Kissamos will accompany the hikers.
Please wear appropriate clothing and take as much water as you need with you.

The dam of Valsamiotis is located near the village Vatolakos  has water capacity of 6 million cubic meters. It was inaugurated in 2014 and since then it has turned to one of the most important wetlands in West Crete.
